Galbraith… Hell yeah
Finally made the trek to Bellingham and gave Galbraith a try. Sweeet! My primary goal was some downhill action, with bike and pads ready for some big hits. After a moderate-yet-strenuous climb up the fire road, and a detour through some pretty great-looking cross country trails, we (Cody, Kevin, Mike, Sergio & me) made it to where all the action is. We knew we were heading in the right direction as the whoops from the depths of the forest grew louder, and little piles of split logs and building materials along the sides of the road become more frequent. The final dead giveaway was the hoard of stoked 12-year olds, offering sage advice and sizing up our bikes as they pushed theirs up the road.
The riding can best be described as “Whistler Lite” - in places the trail was swooping, connecting well-built berms, double-jumps and some ladder/log action. Great stuff. There were just enough big drops, skinnies and mid-sized gaps to keep the adrenaline rushing. The trails appear to be well-maintained, and the landing zones are good, sculpted, and smooth. Great work, whoever is taking care of that, and thanks. I’ll be back again soon!

Awesome! Galby is one of our favorite places to ride--so worth the drive! We usually end up making it epic when we are there and then hitting Boundary Bay brewery for dinner on the way out.

That last shot with the trail winding down, looks like an awesome ride. Is this on a chair or do you have to hike?

Galbraith is a maze of trails… I can’t wait to get back. The hit you see in the second photo is the entrance drop into the trail..at the top of Tower Road. It’s the first left into the woods. It connects up to Scorpian or Evolution. There are no lifts in Galbraith, just hard pedaling on a 40+ lb bike! As Dave says… it’s well worth the effort and a fun place to test your DH or cross-country skills.
