Second in a very short series of Idaho high desert rides. This one starts in Bellevue, Idaho and heads Southeast to Carey.
Yet another ride in Idaho. This one a quick 30 miles up Trail Creek Summit Road.
Another in a long and boring series of bike rides in South Central Idaho.
A nice (mostly) downhill run through the woods
I've been reading alot about Fixies lately and have some interest in them. However, when you think about the traditional uses... velodromes, flat city bike messengers, some commuting... I wonder how good they are for a HILLY city like Seattle or San Francisco. I hear Bike Smith in Ballard has developed a two speed hub for that reason, but then you have to have a shifter again and it kinda defeats the purpose anyway. Anyone else been thinking about this?

While wandering around the Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend, Washington, I came upon a booth selling bicycles! Wooden bicycles! Very cool bikes... light and strong and beautiful... no, not me, the bikes. I spoke at length with Ken Wheeler, the engineer who designed the bikes. When I said I rode a Cervelo, they explained that the geometry of the Cervelo was an inspiration for the Renovos. They are out of Portland, Or. They also make Fixies! They use Fir, Bamboo, etc. The frames start at around $2k. Check them out: http://www.renovobikes.com
Just saw this company online and thought I would pass it along.
There is a new free application for your iPhone (3G) that you can use to track your ride.

What started as a plan for a beautiful fall ride, ends up with 17 degree wind chill and snow.
